Admissions

Children can join Goldstone Primary at the age of 4+, the September after their 4th birthday.

We have 21 classes, 3 in each year group from YR Reception to YR6.

Foundation Stage - Year Reception - 90 children

KS1 (Year1 & Year 2) - 180 children

KS2 (Year 3 - Year 6) - 384 children

Total Admission Limit - 654 children

You are welcome to come and look around our school at any time.  If you would like to make an appointment to visit the school, please contact us on 01273 077110. Throughout the Autumn term we arrange group visits for parents of prospective Reception children, these occur both during the day and evening.  Please contact the office to book a place on one of our group visits.

  • The arrangements for the admission of children to this school at age 4+ are made by the Council. A detailed description of the arrangements is contained in the guidance 'Infant, Junior & Primary School Admissions in Brighton & Hove 2022/2023 which can be found at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/schooladmissions. A hard copy can be obtained from the School Admissions Section, Children & Young People's Trust, PO BOX 2503, King's House, Grand Avenue, HOVE BN3 2SU (tel:01273 293653).

However, parents/carers may find it helpful to know that, if there are insufficient places available to meet demand, places will be allocated to children in accordance with the following list of priorities:

  • Looked after children and all previously looked after children, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
  • Children with compelling medical or other exceptional reasons for attending the school.
  • Children who in September 2023 will have a brother or sister at the school or at a linked junior school.
  • Children transferring between a linked infant and junior school.
  • Other children.

If it should be necessary to decide between children within any of these priority groups, this will be done by giving the places to those children who live closest to the school.

The following information, reflecting the outcome of the admission arrangements at 4+ for September 2022 may give parents/carers some idea of their chances of obtaining a place for their child at this school in September 2023.

These allocations were made using the equal preference system.
