Assessment and Target Setting
As a newly merged school we have been working on developing a new target setting , assessment and progress measuring system.
This is where we are now...
- every pupil has their attainment and progress in the previous term discussed in a Progress Meeting between the Deputy Head who leads the site and the class teacher/s. This discussion also includes setting personalised targets for the next term.
- every parent / carer will receive personalised learning targets for their child for the next term. For some pupils this will entail very small Next Steps across a range of areas, for some it will include broader targets as they make progress more quickly and need less repetition.
- some KS4 students will be on accrediattion syllabuses which mean their personalisd learning targets will mostly cover the 'life curriculum' eg independence, social skills, behaviour and emotional development and careers.
- every pupil's progress against their targets will be graded at the Progress Meeting which will be reported to parents/ carers. This will also enable us to analyse data and look for patterns/ trends that we can work on strategically.
- we are developing pupils being included in their targets through self- assessment and collaboration with choosing next steps where it is meaningful and appropriate
- we are working with our sister specialist school Downs View to use a software system 'Onwards and Upwards ', which enables us to record our data , compare with other schools and create evidence of pupil progress and attainment
